God's heart for the poor. Look how Jesus starts and finishes his ministry on earth:

Matt 25:31-36 - the importance of looking after the hungry, the strangers, the prisoners. We do it for Jesus himself.

Luke 4:17-21 - anointed to preach good news to the poor

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a 21st Century expression of Matt 25. Poverty in the UK is widespread but usually hidden. 25% of CAP clients have no food in the house on a first visit; 50% live in fear. Two thirds of EU credit card debt is in the UK.

Read the Matthew 25 passage - what strikes you about Jesus' teaching? How does this meet up with "salvation by faith alone"?

What is your experience (first hand or second hand) of living in poverty? What ccould we as a group or as a church do to help out those around us?
