Sowing and reaping

Speaker: Simon Matthews

Notes

[Julia:] 2 Kings 4 - keep giving out but keep looking to the source of the oil and teh Holy Spirit working through you.

Gal 6:7-10 what you sow you will reap

Things to sow

  • Loving people - mend broken relationships and win people by sowing love

  • Time - give to people and things even when they won't yield direct reward

  • Money - tithes and offerings. Be generous

  • Talents and skills

  • Mission - personal, local and global

Four keys to a good harvest

  • Sow a lot of seed - 2 Cor 9:6-8, generous and cheerful

  • Sow the right seed - Gal 6:7-8. Do your best to walk in God's will every day

  • Sow in the right place - Mark 4:3-8. In a fallen world not everything will work out 100% right but try anyway. John 4:36-38 - reaping where others have sown

  • Be patient and persistent - Gal 6:9, don't grow weary. After the winter season comes spring, stay in it for the long haul.

Application

Where do you feel you have sown and not reaped a harvest? Where have you reaped without sowing?

From Simon's 5 things to sow, which do you find most challenging and why?

In what do you need encouragement to keep going and not grow weary? Pray for one another
