Jesus did tell disciples in advance about the Spirit. The Spirit was sent to empower and to transform into a likeness of Christ himself. The Book of Acts can be seen as an introduction to what the Spirit enables ordinary people to do, but not the whole story.
-
Giving power to be witnesses. It is about character, not learnable skills. Acts 1:5 & 1:8

-
Individual guidance. Obedience to prompting is needed, and the results may be much bigger than you think for a simple prompt. Acts 8:29,39, Acts 10:19,21
-
Encouragement. The Spirit can and does act through you to encourage. Acts 9:31
-

Have any of you been prevented from what seemed a right action and later found out why it was not?
How far can it be a matter of personal pride to be dealt with when a task is given to somebody else?
I suspect that the prompting to encourage somebody is a very frequent message from the Spirit. Are you doing it? Is there anybody in this room with you who ought to be encouraged by you?
