You are mine and I will be with you

Speaker: Jo Crawford

Notes

Isaiah 43:1-8, or "Harry and the Bucket of Dinosaurs" if you prefer

God says to you "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine". (well, he said it to Israel – listen to the talk for why you can know he says it to you too!)

God calls you by name – to be his faithful follower:

You belong to God; this means he looks after you, it means he is with you all the time no matter what happens. It also means that you live your life for God and not for you – God has strong ideas on how he wants us to live. God loves us because we are His and not for what we do. All you have to do is accept it.

And some verses that I like:

Eph 1:5 says Because of his love, God had already decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. John 10:3 says Jesus is like a shepherd and we are the sheep. It says "the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out".

Titus 2:13-14 Jesus Christ, ... gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own.

Application

Do you belong to God? Do you want to?

What does the Bible say we are called to? See how many things you can find

What is God calling you to, specifically, at the moment?

Do you really know that you know that you know that God loves you? Pray for those who aren't sure.

Look at Isaiah 43:10-13. We are witnesses to all the times in our lives when God has brought us safely through the fire – it's good to remember those times – it gives us faith for the next time.
