General Election 2010
By: Paul Brown
It's finally happening - the long awaited General Election. The country goes to the polls on 6th May to elect the Government for the next season of parliament which could be anything up to five years. And this time, the result is harder to predict than ever. So I want to encourage everyone out there to do their bit and make your vote count.
There will be a lot of new faces in parliament next month and this is our opportunity to help decide which people will be representing us. I know of a lot of Christians who are standing as candidates, and more godly values in parliament would be a good thing for our country and beyond. But let's not get drawn into a narrow single-issue view of politics. Rather, let's try to understand some of the real issues and find out what the candidates in our constituency stand for.
Here are some useful web-sites:
I'd also encourage you to go and sign the Westminster 2010 Declaration of Christian Conscience. This is backed by many prominent Christian leaders and says to parliamentary candidates, "this is what we stand for; you should listen to us and support our right to live out the Christian faith in this country."
